Surveillance & Privacy

1 min read

Modern technological improvements have brought a plethora of conveniences to modern day man. We have seen evolution in transport, communication and even surveillance systems.

Of course with great power comes great responsibility, and therefore ethics need to be considered when dealing with modern day technology. Persons of interest in particular need to be keen of their environment and digital footprint. It is easier now than ever to bug a room with clandestine micro devices such as microphones and cameras to eavesdrop into conversations and obtain information ranging from trade secrets and device passwords, codes that can be used later on.

Detecting such devices is often out of the question for the average person as it would require specialised equipment and technical know how on intercepting the signals emitted by the hidden cameras before they reach their intended recipients without necessarily affecting their normal use so as to alert the eavesdropping team of the detection.

Cameras in particular are easily detected even if hidden in walls or ceilings since they have a glass lense which can reflect light when illuminated by a light source such as a flash light or led lights. Microphones can also be detected since most if not all would have magnets which again can be detected with the correct tool.

Summary

HNIs and their handlers would be most at task in ensuring their environment is not compromised and is secure before undertaking any serious conversations especially of security concerns.
